Day Sixteen

Benalmadina

BTW (By The Way) we do visit the beach!!

Generally the day starts with a late breakfast - it does not get light here until 8 a.m. or so. Then Karin normally tales Nico on his morning walk. Then we are allowed to have breakfast on the terrace.

Nico is super. He is so easy to handle and loves to fetch sticks - which he defends like mad, until you find a bigger stick!

Today we visited Benalmadina which has a completely different character to Fuengirola. I still have not decided which I like better. Maybe Fuengerola - as there are less Brits and more Spanish holiday makers!!
Although only 20 minutes away, there seems to have been more investment in Benalmadina, as shown by the promenade and the cable car. We had originally intended to take the cable car to the top of the hills and admire the view - but there was too much wind and we visited a dealer´s market, the very "Disney style" yacht marina and one of the lovely beaches. The beach is situated near to the "castle". Castillo El Bil-Bil was actually begun in 1938 as a house with Moor/Arabian features but by 1980 was a ruin. After much TLC (Tender Loving Care) it is now the Tourist Office - but very beautiful and today with an art exhibition.

P.S. We did go for swims and had an hour on the beach!
