Day Two

Deeper into France

Roughly 650 Km yesterday across country towards Bordeaux in south-western France.

Our Navi (SatNav) decided to take us across country instead of the route we had planned but this time we took her suggestion. The road was a simple two lane one but absolutely no traffic. The display showed a massive traffic jam on the motorways but I am not sure this was correct. Later it displayed the same for a motorway stretch we were on - and there was no jam!

After a stop to refuel off the motorway and a quick coffee (and croissant for me - German versions are far inferior!) we set off to join our second river.

The Dordogne

We reached the Dordogne River at Bergerac. Lovely! If I had known it was so pretty we would have been staying here for our second night!

As you can see, I love their half-timbered houses!

Cyrano de Bergerac - nothing to do with town except having that name!

Followed the Dordogne for several kilometers before leaving it to head for Frontenac, some 40 km from Bordeaux. Part of the Gironde, so part of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and in the area L´Entre-deux-mers and a population of 750!

Comments

  1. You know that the Dordogne is old English territory. Many Brits down there who (re-) bought themselves a place once the Pound was stronger. Not a bad choice!
